IntelliJ: how to activate the new commit dialog
IntelliJ IDEA enhances the developer experience with a variety of integrated tools and interfaces. One such feature is the commit dialog, which offers a streamlined, non-intrusive way to manage your version control commits. Positioned conveniently on the left side as a pinned tool window, this interface allows for continuous access without disrupting your workflow.
However, should you find yourself having accidentally deactivated the new commit dialog, re-enabling it might not seem straightforward. If you need to revert to the non-modal commit interface, simply follow these steps:
- Open Settings via
File > Settings
or by using the shortcutCtrl+Alt+S
. - Navigate to Version Control.
- Select Commit from the submenu.
- Check the option for “Use non-modal commit interface”.
This will reactivate the non-modal commit dialog, restoring the tool window to its original position and functionality. Re-enabling this feature ensures that you can manage commits without having to deal with modal interruption, thus maintaining your coding efficiency.
